About me

I'm heading off to study Music Business at university – music has always been a big passion of mine! Singing is my main thing, though I dabble in piano too (work in progress, but we’re getting there). I’ve always loved performing and can’t wait to get more involved in that side of uni life.

I’m a very social person – whether it’s a night out with friends or a chilled games night with family, I’m always up for a good time and a good laugh. I’ve got a strong sense of humour and love being around people.

I’m also fiercely independent wherever possible. I like to do as much for myself as I can, but sometimes I need a bit of support to make sure I can fit everything I want into my day.

My disability is a part of me, but it doesn’t define me. I never let it hold me back, and I’d love for people to see me for who I am, not just the wheelchair. I’m excited to make the most of everything uni has to offer – and having the right support will help make that possible.

About the role
  • I’ll need support with all aspects of personal care, including things like showering, dressing, and using the bathroom.
  • When it comes to cooking, I like to be as hands-on as possible, but I’ll need help with lifting heavy items, reaching awkward cupboards, or safely getting things out of the oven. I may also require you to cook for me if I am tired or unable to do so myself.
  • Help with everyday household tasks would also be required – things like keeping my room tidy, doing laundry, and putting things away.
  • I may also need support with food shopping or other outings, especially when there are bags to carry or places to get to.
  • I may need you to join me on the occasional day or evening trip too – whether it's a uni event, a gig, or just something fun I’ve planned.
  • Accommodation will be provided for the 7 days on weekly shifts.
The kind of person I am looking for

I'm looking for a friendly, patient and supportive PA who can be a bit of a uni buddy too – someone who’s happy to help with all aspects of personal care, the odd bit of study support, and getting stuck into uni life together, whether that’s socialising, joining societies or just having some fun!

  • you will need to be physically fit to ensure you can help with my personal care effectively
  • to be friendly and caring
  • to have the ability to work on your own initiative
  • to have a good sense of humour
  • a mature and responsible attitude, yet still able to have fun
  • good communication skills
  • to be fluent in English
  • to be happy with cooking meat and being around a pub environment
  • non-smoker as this is damaging to my health

It is requested that the applicant is female due to the role involving intimate personal care. For this reason, it is exempt under the general occupational requirement section of the Equality Act 2010
