Job summary

Service Care in Hereford is seeking four Financial Assessment Visiting Officers for a temporary 12-week, full-time contract (37 hours per week). You will conduct detailed financial assessments for adults needing social care support, covering residential, domiciliary, and community-based services, ensuring accuracy and compliance with the Care Act.

The role emphasizes empathy, strong numeracy, and clear communication to help clients understand financial responsibilities and access support.

Qualifications

• Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical skills.
• Ability to review income, savings, assets and expenditure accurately.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Empathy and professionalism when working with vulnerable adults and families.
• Capability to manage workload effectively and adhere to policies and legislation.
• Knowledge of social care financial assessments, the Care Act, or local authority policies (advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive financial assessments reviewing income, savings, assets and liabilities.
• Assess individuals’ financial contributions towards residential and non-residential care services.
• Ensure assessments are compliant with all relevant policies and legislation.
• Identify opportunities to maximize benefit entitlements and financial support for clients.
• Communicate assessment outcomes clearly and sensitively to clients and carers.
• Signpost individuals to independent financial advice and support services.
• Work compassionately with vulnerable adults and their families during challenging situations.
