Job description

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Social Care Coordinator to join our team at Wattleglen in Sale, Victoria. This position is on a permanent full-time basis. We're looking for someone who has excellent communication skills, is highly organised, and has a knack for problem-solving.

Our organisation is constantly growing, with many homes and thousands of residents and employees across Victoria, New South Wales, and Tasmania. Respect also has home care services in multiple states, and more than 700 units in different retirement villages and independent living communities.

As Social Care Coordinator, you'll be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational matters of the social care program at the facility. The Social Care Coordinator works in conjunction with the General Manager to provide and direct social care programs which are responsive, enriching, and reflective of resident needs and requirements.

Key Responsibilities :

  1. Ensure the efficient delivery and continual review of resident-focused therapy, social, and recreational activities.
  2. Lead and organise the social care staff and volunteers.
  3. Foster and promote social connectedness and actively engage and liaise with the local community, community groups, schools, and sporting organisations.
  4. Facilitate resident meetings and encourage participation in planning and program development.
  5. Maintain social care inventory and other resources. Control stock and undertake periodic audits as required.
  6. Maintain appropriate clinical records, statistics, and register of programs and attendance.
  7. Contribute to facility management meetings and assist with strategic social care planning.
  8. Participate in relevant professional development and mandatory training as required.
  9. Implement a vibrant and integrated volunteer program which ensures community engagement and encourages resident participation.
  10. Ensure that social care expenditure is in accordance with the approved budget.
  11. Ensure social care staff and volunteers are made aware of their policy, legislative, and other relevant compliance obligations.

Minimum Requirements :

  1. Certificate IV Qualification in Leisure and Lifestyle or similar discipline.
  2. Current National Police Certificate (or ability to acquire).
  3. Current Driver's License.
  4. Proficient computer systems and information management skills.
  5. First Aid Certificate.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. A genuine interest in working in aged care.
  8. The ability to lead and organise the social care team and volunteers.
  9. An ability to communicate with a diverse range of people.
  10. Experience in the provision of complementary therapies and recreational services.
  11. Demonstrated experience in dementia care.
  12. Experience in residential aged care.
  13. Knowledge of and access to community groups and community support agencies.
