Role: Social Care Assistant (Night)

Location: Meadowburn, Hawthorn House, Orchard Grove, Victoria Gardens, Riverside

Salary: Starting hourly rate of £19.40 (see attached salary details)

Hours and Shift Pattern: 24 & 35 hours per week (see attached work patterns)

Due to the nature of this role and function, there is a requirement to work Public Holidays.

Our GCHSCP Care Homes provide care and support in enabling surroundings to our residents 24/7, where you would work 12-hour shifts.

As a Social Care Assistant, you should hold values that promote the well-being of older people and a desire to support others with compassion and kindness, respecting their rights and choices within their daily lives. To work in Social Care, you need the right qualities, but you gain the qualifications while in the job. When you work for the partnership, you are supported to embark on a continuous learning pathway, helping you to gain the skills and knowledge required for your role.

This post requires you to have a suitable qualification to register with the Scottish Social Services Council as a Support Worker within a Care Home. Glasgow City Council will support and cover the cost of this qualification. Please refer to the Person Specification for full details of the required qualifications, skills, knowledge, and competencies.

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential upon appointment. Successful candidates will be required to pay for their PVG Membership or Scheme Checks.

Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is mandatory. You must either be already registered or have applied within 3 months and be registered within 6 months from your start date. Currently, as part of the local government pay deal, local authority staff are not required to pay SSSC fees.

These roles are excepted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).

Interviews are scheduled for the week beginning 16th June 2025.
