VANRATH is recruiting for a Staff Officer Accountant for a 6-month contract with a Civil Service ALB.

This role starts immediately and is ideal for a qualified accountant with experience in the Public Sector. The position may be extended beyond 6 months and offers hybrid working. It could lead to a permanent role within 12 months.

The Role:
  • Analysis of financial data
  • Budget management, monitoring, and variance analysis
  • Preparation of accrual and deferred income journals
  • Production of management accounting reports
  • Development and review of financial systems
  • Providing financial advice and guidance
  • Drafting and implementing financial policies and controls
  • Building relationships with Science colleagues and supporting their queries
  • Seeking process improvements for efficiency
  • Gaining knowledge of work within science branches to improve service
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Fully Qualified Accountant with Public Sector experience
  • Experience in preparing management and statutory accounts
  • Proficient in MS Excel, including Pivots and V Lookups
