Job summary

Belcan is seeking a Structural Design Engineer in the UK to join a growing team working on naval marine vessel programmes. You will contribute to the design, modelling and development of ship structures using industry tools and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

The role requires experience in marine/shipbuilding environments and familiarity with naval ship programmes, marine design standards, and drafting/bulkhead, deck and shell modelling.

Qualifications

• Experience as Structural Engineer in marine/shipbuilding/defence environments.
• Experience on naval ship programmes.
• Knowledge of marine structural design standards and shipbuilding processes.
• Strong skills in bulkhead, deck and shell modelling; nesting.

Responsibilities

• Structural modelling and design of ship structures incl. bulkheads/decks.
• Produce detailed structural drawings and documentation.
• Shell modelling and structural development activities.
• Create nesting information to support manufacturing.
• Collaborate with design, engineering and production teams to meet requirements.
• Maintain engineering data and documentation in PLM systems.

Structural Design Engineer

Are you an experienced Structural Design Engineer with a background in the marine or shipbuilding sector? We are supporting an exciting programme within the naval marine industry and are looking for talented engineers to join a growing team working on complex vessel design and engineering projects.

As a Structural Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, modelling and development of ship structures, contributing to the delivery of high-profile naval vessel programmes. This is an excellent opportunity to work with industry-leading engineering tools and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on technically challenging projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Structural modelling and design of ship structures, including bulkheads and decks.
• Production of detailed structural drawings and engineering documentation.
• Shell modelling and structural development activities.
• Creation of nesting information to support manufacturing processes.
• Work closely with design, engineering and production teams to ensure project requirements are met.
• Maintain engineering data and documentation within PLM systems.

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience as a Structural Engineer within marine, shipbuilding or defence environments.
• Previous experience working on naval ship programmes. -
• Knowledge of marine structural design standards and shipbuilding processes.
• Strong knowledge of:

  • Bulkhead and deck drafting

• Experience using the following software packages:
