Job summary

A legal services firm in Edinburgh seeks a qualified solicitor to provide expert legal advice on corporate matters. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years' experience, be a Scottish Qualified Solicitor, and possess strong negotiation and communication skills. This role offers competitive day rates and requires a valid Basic Disclosure Scotland.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years as a Scottish Qualified Solicitor with a current practicing certificate.
  • Specialist knowledge in interpreting legislation.
  • Experience in managing or supervising a team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialised legal advice related to corporate legislation.
  • Advise on complex matters supporting the client's input to government.
  • Help implement new corporate legislation.

Description

Use advanced legal knowledge, including of various environmental regimes, and the client's strategic objectives to provide specialised legal advice and support to the client staff on specific areas of law as they relate to and impact the client.

Provide legal advice on complex matters to support the client in its input to the Scottish Government on the development of new corporate legislation or policy relating to specific areas of law, or proposed changes to existing corporate legislation or policy.

Provide specialised legal advice on the implementation of new corporate legislation.

Offer expert legal advice in various areas of civil and corporate law.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Scottish Qualified Solicitor with a current practicing certificate - 5 years
  • LLB Degree and Diploma in Legal Practice or equivalent
  • Specialist knowledge and skills in the interpretation and application of legislation
  • Negotiation, influencing, and persuasion skills
  • Creativity in developing innovative, problem-solving solutions
  • Excellent written communication skills, capable of producing concise complex documents such as reports, statutory notices, environmental authorisations, and draft legislation
  • Strong oral communication skills to explain legal requirements to non-legal staff
  • Experience in managing or supervising a team
  • General understanding of objectives and procedures
