Job description

Raytheon UK is seeking an experienced RF Engineer to join the Assured Position, Navigation and Timing (APNT) team within the Global Sensors Mission Area. The role involves creating RF GPS/GNSS Anti-Jam Systems for the military market and is based at Raytheon’s Harlow facility, reporting to the RF Hardware Engineering Section Lead.

This position offers development opportunities and the chance to collaborate with a highly skilled technical team on innovative projects.

The RF Hardware Engineer will contribute to a broad range of product designs, support integration, and serve as a focal point for solutions, overseeing contributions from various engineering disciplines including systems, hardware, mechanical, software, safety, and reliability.

Ideal candidates are self-starters with proven experience in RF product design for challenging environments and high-volume manufacturing. The role requires onsite presence at Harlow, with hybrid working arrangements.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Developing requirements for new products.
  2. Leading RF hardware design and development from concept to production and certification.
  3. Designing and implementing RF test solutions.
  4. Collaborating across engineering disciplines throughout the design cycle.
  5. Producing design documentation and reports.
  6. Working with customers and design authorities to develop and manage technical requirements.
  7. Interfacing with suppliers and industry experts.
  8. Solving complex technical problems related to GPS/GNSS Anti-Jam products.
  9. Mentoring junior engineers.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Experience in RF and analogue micro circuitry design, especially for harsh environments.
  • Design experience in Receiver technologies within 1-2 GHz, focusing on GPS/GNSS signals.
  • Knowledge of down/up conversion techniques.
  • Familiarity with microwave simulators, PCB layout, and mechanical modeling tools.
  • Full system design lifecycle understanding.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK, Europe, and the US.
  • Security clearance eligibility or current holder of SC clearance.

Preferred skills include:

  • Interpretation of customer specifications and end-use environments.
  • Design for manufacture experience for high-volume products.
  • Experience with RF interfacing, high-speed D/A and A/D conversions.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard tools like Mentor Graphics, MATLAB, LT Spice, etc.

Minimum educational requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience in electronics product design and development.
