Senior Associate at Leverton Search | Scaling Private Market Distribution & Product Teams within Investment Management | Founder @ IMGS

Our client, a leading global investment manager with an extensive platform across private and public markets, is looking to appoint a senior Product Developer to join its private markets division in London. This is a strategically important hire as the firm continues to expand its private credit capabilities across Europe and globally.

The role will sit within the firm’s broader private assets product management team and focus primarily on private credit, while working closely with key internal and external stakeholders to drive new product initiatives, manage fund launches and oversee ongoing product development.

The Opportunity

This is a highly visible, hands-on role combining technical fund structuring knowledge with leadership, project management and cross-functional coordination. The successful candidate will partner with colleagues across investments, client solutions, legal, compliance, operations, finance and risk to ensure the effective delivery and ongoing optimisation of private credit products.

The role carries management responsibility for a small team and offers significant scope to mentor and support junior colleagues.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Leading the development and launch of new private credit funds, managing timelines and engaging stakeholders across the organisation
  • Driving fund structuring and commercial design, including financial modelling, investor mechanics, liquidity terms and ESG considerations
  • Acting as the internal subject matter expert for product-level matters, fund governance, investment restrictions and fund economics
  • Monitoring and responding to evolving regulatory requirements across Europe and other jurisdictions, ensuring the product range remains both compliant and competitive
  • Designing and implementing FX hedging strategies to support fund currency exposure and investor requirements
  • Conducting competitor and market research to assess product trends, fund structures and commercial developments within private markets
  • Serving as a key liaison point for senior internal stakeholders on product-related issues and business initiatives
  • Managing and developing team members, providing leadership on both day-to-day execution and long-term career progression

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical product expertise, private credit experience and leadership capabilities, with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.

Key qualifications and attributes:

  • 10+ years’ experience within private markets, with a particular focus on private credit product development and fund management
  • Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA or equivalent are advantageous
  • Deep knowledge of European fund structuring frameworks, including closed-ended vehicles, AIFMD regulations and co-mingled and separate account structures
  • Demonstrated experience managing product launches, cross-functional projects and complex internal governance processes
  • Experience working within private credit strategies, with a strong understanding of fund economics, investment restrictions and fund documentation
  • Previous line management experience, able to foster collaboration, mentor junior team members and support team development
  • Exceptional organisational skills with strong attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple workstreams
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
  • Confident communicator, able to engage senior stakeholders and external parties with clarity and credibility
  • Experience with FX markets and currency hedging strategies is desirable but not essential
  • Strong interpersonal and cultural fit is key – this is a highly collaborative team that places significant value on working style and team dynamic

Why This Role?

  • Join a globally respected asset manager with a rapidly growing private credit platform
  • Take on meaningful responsibility across product design, launch and governance
  • Manage and develop a high-quality team while remaining actively involved in delivery
  • Work closely with senior leadership across investment and distribution functions
  • Attractive compensation and long-term career progression within a global institution
