Sizewell C Company is seeking a seasoned Commercial Manager/Senior Commercial Manager to lead the commercial management of programme-wide contracts within our large-scale engineering project in the UK.
You will administer FIDIC/NEC4 contracts, prepare variations and claims, forecast costs and report on commercial performance, while mentoring junior staff and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver value-driven outcomes.
Sizewell C is one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure projects—a next-of-a-kind nuclear power station that will deliver clean, reliable energy for generations. Following our Final Investment Decision, construction is fully underway. This is your chance to lead at scale and play a pivotal role in Britain’s journey to energy security and Net Zero.
A Commercial Manager / Senior Commercial Manager within the Technical Contract Team is responsible for leading the commercial management of programme-aligned scopes of work, ensuring effective contract administration, governance, and supplier performance throughout the contract lifecycle. Embedded within a multidisciplinary delivery team (MDT), the role works closely with Project Management, Technical & Engineering, and Project Controls functions to support safe, timely and cost-effective delivery of the Sizewell C design.
Key responsibilities include managing contractual communications, payment and cost assurance, forecasting and reporting, administering variations and compensation events, supporting risk and claim mitigation, and maintaining constructive commercial relationships with the supplier.
The role is expected to proactively identify and resolve commercial issues, provide robust commercial advice to delivery teams, and secure fair, value-driven outcomes that protect SZC's commercial position while supporting collaborative contract delivery. For Senior Commercial Managers, additional expectations include leading complex negotiations, managing significant commercial risk and change, influencing senior stakeholders, and providing leadership and mentoring across the wider Technical commercial team. A civil engineering background, MRICS or CIPS is preferred. If successful, you will be part of a very friendly and supportive team.
We’re looking for a seasoned commercial professional with extensive experience delivering major programmes, ideally within large-scale engineering and infrastructure projects valued between £10m and £100m+. Experience in industries such as Energy (Nuclear, Wind, Solar, Oil and Gas), Datacentres and the like will be highly regarded. You’ll bring a deep understanding of construction technology, cost drivers, and supply chain management, combined with a strong working knowledge of FIDIC (highly desirable) and NEC3/NEC4 contracts; particularly in contract management and administration. Your ability to draft position papers, evaluate variations, evaluate complex quotations, manage risk and produce clear commercial reports will set you apart.
If this sounds like the next step in your career, we’d love to hear from you.
