Boyne Resorts in Newry, United Kingdom, is seeking a Level 1 Snowmaker to join our alpine operations. This hands-on role involves operating snowmaking systems, maintaining equipment, and following safety protocols in harsh winter conditions.

You will work early mornings and long shifts with potential overtime, be part of a team, and enjoy resort perks such as season passes and gear allowance. No prior snowmaking experience required; must be able to lift and work outdoors.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in cold outdoor environments.
• Fluent English communication and safety awareness.
• Valid driver’s license with no restrictions.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Operate snowmaking equipment and high-pressure water systems safely.
• Set up, maintain, and tear down snowmaking gear on active trails.
• Produce snow to create optimal skiing surfaces.
• Perform general facility and equipment upkeep.
• Check in and return tools and radios to their stations.
• Wear required PPE and report repairs or issues promptly.
• Follow daily work instructions with minimal supervision.
• Be ready to assist other departments during peak periods.
• Collaborate with team members and maintain a positive attitude.

Job description

Overview

As a Level 1 Snowmaker, you will brave the elements and help build out the mountain in a safe and efficient manner. Snowmaking is a physically demanding and exciting job with many unique perks!

Schedule availability: 6:45 AM - 7 PM (day) or 6:45 PM - 7 AM (grave). Weekdays, weekends, holidays. Overtime required. Hours are weather dependent.

Responsibilities

• Operate high voltage equipment, high pressure air and water systems utilizing appropriate safety precautions
• Set up, tear down, and maintain snowmaking equipment in a safe and efficient manner on any trail that has snowmaking on it
• Work on the production of snow to create the best skiing surface
• Perform general maintenance and housekeeping of buildings, equipment, snow guns, and hoses
• Responsible for checking out and returning all tools, headlamps, and radios to original locations
• Unconditionally use the appropriate PPE required for the various types of work to be done
• Report any needed repairs or malfunctions to the supervisors
• Receive daily work instruction and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision
• Be willing to help in other departments during peak periods
• Respect all team members and maintain a positive attitude throughout the shift
• Complete other duties as assigned by management or supervisor with a positive attitude

Qualifications

• Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years old
• Skill level- entry level
• Valid driver’s license with no restrictions
• Must be able to communicate fluently in English
• Be able to lift, bend, kneel, and carry up to 75 lbs.
• Basic hand tool knowledge and skill
• Able to define problems, establish facts and draw conclusions
• Able to work in a fast-paced, potentially high-pressure environment
• Self-motivated

• Must have a positive attitude and willingness to work in a team environment
• Able to work in harsh winter conditions with extremes of temperature, wind, and precipitation for extended period outdoors in an alpine environment
