Job summary

Jackie Kerr Recruitment is looking for an SMT Operator in Reading to join a busy electronics manufacturing team. You will set up and operate SMT equipment and ensure products are manufactured to high standards.

The role requires experience in SMT/PCB assembly, good component knowledge, and the ability to read drawings and BOMs. A hands-on position with opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience in SMT or PCB assembly required.
• Familiarity with IPC-A-610 standards and quality checks.
• Ability to read technical drawings and BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate SMT equipment including pick-and-place machines.
• Read assembly drawings and BOMs to plan production.
• Identify components and inspect boards for defects.
• Carry out production tasks to meet schedules and quality standards.
• Ensure PCB assemblies meet IPC-A-610 requirements.
• Follow ESD, health & safety, and company procedures.
• Perform quality checks during manufacturing.
• Attend daily team briefings and communicate with colleagues.
• Support continuous improvement within production area.
• Assist other departments as needed.
