Job summary

The Forward Trust's East Kent Community Drug and Alcohol Service is seeking a Smoking Cessation Practitioner to improve health outcomes for people in substance misuse treatment. You will integrate stop-smoking support into care pathways, raise awareness of smoking harms, and support staff with brief advice and health conversations.

You will lead on VBA delivery, NRT access and behavioural support, and work across multiple sites to embed cessation in care plans and reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience of working within substance misuse and/or mental health services.
• Experience delivering structured interventions to service users.
• Experience facilitating groups.
• Experience using motivational interviewing techniques in one-to-one and group settings.
• Strong IT skills and confidence using digital systems and data.

Responsibilities

• Using Power BI dashboards to monitor smoking status and identify intervention opportunities.
• Delivering VBA and smoking cessation interventions to service users.
• Supporting access to Nicotine Replacement Therapy and providing behavioural support.
• Delivering training and increasing staff confidence in cessation advice.
• Developing and promoting stop-smoking campaigns and awareness activities.
• Monitoring outcomes and completing monthly reporting.
• Embedding cessation into care plans and risk assessments.
• Working with partners to develop referral pathways and ensure data capture.
• Engaging with outreach to underserved populations and homelessness.
