We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Walsall to assist with the appointment of a Smokefree Engagement Officer, on a 3-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.Rate of Pay: £17.72 - £22.56 per hourSummary:We are looking for a motivated and experienced Smokefree Engagement Officer to support the delivery of national, regional, and local tobacco control objectives, including Walsalls Tobacco Control Plan. The role will focus on creating and supporting smokefree workplaces, with an emphasis on organisations whose staff are less likely to engage in health improvement initiatives. This is a hybrid role, with office attendance expected on Wednesdays and the flexibility to plan your own diary for site visits and remote working.Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to engage local businesses in smokefree initiatives.
  • Advise employers on enhancing and implementing smokefree workplace policies.
  • Deliver staff training, awareness sessions, and resources to support smokefree practices.
  • Promote smoking cessation services and encourage participation among employees.
  • Collaborate with public health teams, regulatory services, and external partners to address broader tobacco control priorities.

    Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Public Health, Health Promotion, or related discipline)., Minimum 12 months recent experience in public health, with a strong focus on tobacco control or smoking cessation.
  • Knowledge of smoking cessation approaches, tobacco control legislation, and public health strategies.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (or ability to travel to sites as required).
  • Ability to work independently, manage own diary, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication, engagement, and influencing skills, with experience in working face-to-face with stakeholders.
