Are you passionate about public health and keen to make a lasting impact in your local community? Walsall Council is looking for an enthusiastic Smokefree Engagement Officer to help deliver its ambitious Tobacco Control Plan.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of public health and community wellbeing, focusing on creating healthier, smokefree workplaces across Walsall.

? Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage and collaborate with local businesses to promote smokefree environments.

  • Provide advice and support to employers on enhancing smokefree workplace policies.

  • Deliver training and guidance to staff to encourage smoking cessation.

  • Actively promote local stop-smoking services.

  • Prioritise outreach to workplaces where staff may be less likely to engage in traditional health improvement services.

  • Work closely with partners and stakeholders to support wider tobacco control strategies.

? What You’ll Need:
  • A degree in a relevant field.

  • At least 12 months of recent experience in public health, ideally focused on smoking cessation or similar health improvement initiatives.

  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, and the ability to manage hybrid working, site visits, and stakeholder engagement.

This role falls under Lot 15 – Social Care (Unqualified) and offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to both national and local public health initiatives.
