Job summary

Greencore is recruiting an SMI operator in Cawood, North Yorkshire, to run the SMI line and related equipment in a fast-paced food manufacturing site.

You will follow defined procedures, troubleshoot minor issues, and work with engineers and shift managers. The role offers day shifts 04:00–16:00 on Mon-Wed, rotating after six weeks, with overtime after 36 hours at x1.25 and a pay rate of £16.02 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the efficient running of the SMI and any associated equipment (logopak, spice capper, top tagger, video, pallet stacking).
• Troubleshoot and resolve minor issues (mechanical and procedural).
• Liaise with Area Process Leaders, Line Coordinator, Engineers, and Shift Managers.
• Ensure the correct glass and caps are on the line.
• Assist in or complete a capper changeover when required.
• Consider quality, health, and safety issues at all times.
• Work to the Right First Time ethos.
• Mentor and assist with training of new staff.

• Day shift - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 04:00 - 16:00 (after 6 weeks rotates to Thursday, Friday, Saturday for a further 6 weeks)
• Rate of pay - £16.02 (Overtime is after 36 hours a week x1.25)

What you'll be doing

This role operates within defined procedures, plans, budgets, and programmes. The day-to-day work is assigned by a manager or supervisor. Duties in this role include:

• Ensure the efficient running of the SMI and any associated equipment; (logopak, spice capper, top tagger, video, pallet stacking)
• To troubleshoot and resolve minor issues (mechanical and procedural)
• To liaise with Area Process Leaders, Line Coordinator, Engineers, and Shift Managers
• Ensure the correct glass and caps are on the line
• Ensure the efficient running of the Capper, including assisting in or completing a capper changeover when required
• Consider quality, health, and safety issues and the implications at all times
• Ensure that you work to "Right First Time" ethos
• Troubleshoot and maintain efficiencies with mechanical and procedural understanding
• Work alongside QA
• Completing data capture
• Resolving minor issues, mechanical and procedural
• Mentoring and assisting with the training of new staff
