Where will you be working?

At M Group Energy, we're enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide end-to-end solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering, and home decarbonisation.

This role is within our Metering team, the leading provider of metering services in the UK energy retail sector, offering efficient and flexible services for gas, electricity, and water meters.

Our meter readers install, maintain, and manage meters to ensure accurate billing and monitor energy usage patterns.

What will you be doing?

As an engineer, you'll respond to emergency and maintenance appointments for EON, ensuring customers' Smart Meters are functioning correctly. You enjoy working independently, engaging with customers, and meeting new people.

Customer service is our priority. You'll complete all jobs on time, explaining the benefits and safe usage of their new smart meter. You will install and remove smart meters (SMETS2) in customers' homes, typically doing around 5 jobs per day, with an uncapped bonus for additional jobs.

You will travel using your tablet, with schedules available up to 2 weeks in advance. Continuous training will be provided to develop your skills. 83% of our field management team have been promoted from technician roles, offering long-term career prospects.

Health and safety are central to our operations. Your onboarding will prepare you to be an ambassador for safety. Weekly meetings and support from field managers ensure you're never alone. No two days are the same, offering many opportunities to excel.

What you'll bring

  • Valid UK driving license, held for at least 1 year, with fewer than 6 points
  • Experience with CCN1 / CMA1 / CMA3 with MET1, or NVQ Level 2 in Smart Metering Dual Fuel
  • Experience installing gas and electric smart meters
  • Previous MOCOPA experience to a multi-rate level

Bonus qualifications such as REGT1, 3-phase, or registration on the EUSR portal are a plus but not required.
