About the Practice

Serving the community since 1950, this small-animal-only practice operates across four sites: the main surgery in the seaside town of Hartlepool, and branches in Horden, Billingham, and Sedgefield. The location offers the best of both worlds, with beautiful beaches, picturesque countryside, and easy access to the historic cities of Durham and York. The practice is preparing to relocate its Hartlepool surgery to a purpose-built facility, with plans to introduce CT imaging and expand its services. All sites are already well-equipped with ultrasound, digital and dental X-ray, and endoscopy/laparoscopy equipment. The large, collaborative team includes certificate holders across surgery, dentistry, imaging, cardiology, minimally invasive surgery, medicine, and anaesthesia. Personal development is actively encouraged, with strong support for further training and new skills.

The Role
  • Full-time: 40 hours per week, including 1 in 4 Saturdays
  • No out-of-hours requirements
  • Part-time applicants welcome for those seeking flexibility
  • This role involves a mix of consultations and surgery, with well-structured 20-minute appointments allowing for thorough case workups, client communication, and administration. Appointments are carefully managed, with time set aside for emergencies and follow-up calls.
Ideal Candidate

The ideal applicant will be confident in routine consultations and surgery, with the ability to work sole charge when needed. There is an opportunity to take on a senior role, including mentoring junior colleagues and providing Graduate Development Programme (GDP) support. Strong communication skills and a team-focused approach are essential.

Benefits
  • Excellent salary up to £65,000
  • 6.6 weeks’ paid holiday, including Bank Holidays
  • CPD allowance of £1,700
