Job description

Veterinary Surgeon – Birmingham

  • Independent, award winning cat and dog only practice in a fantastic location in east Birmingham
  • Highly successful, RCVS accredited practice with excellent onsite facilities including X-ray, ultrasound, dentistry, an isolation unit, and more
  • Working alongside an experienced team including an Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Medicine
  • No OOH, Sundays or bank holidays
  • Generous salary up to £50,000

Are you looking to join a dynamic, independent, and fast-growing dog and cat-only practice? Our client has built a well-respected, thriving practice in a beautiful part of East Birmingham over the past four years, and now they’re looking for a fifth vet to join their amazing team.

This RCVS-accredited practice has been voted Best Start-Up at the Best UK Vets Awards for two consecutive years and ranked among the UK’s Top 25 practices in 2023, with another shortlist for 2024. Their success is rooted in a team that genuinely enjoys working together and collaborating with clients to provide exceptional care.

Exciting growth is on the horizon as the practice expands into the adjacent unit, creating additional theatre space and a brand-new hydrotherapy unit set to open by April 2025. This is the perfect time to join them on their journey. They’re looking for a vet with some experience who is eager to develop further. If you’re working towards certification, their varied caseload will provide the ideal foundation to support your growth.

You’ll be part of a dedicated team that shares a passion for continuous improvement. Their Lead Vet, an Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Medicine since 2020, has a special interest in cardiology and has established a certificate-led cardiology service, accepting referrals from local practices.

The full-time role offers a true 40-hour workweek, with a four-day schedule and just 1:4 Saturday mornings (8:30–12:30). There are no OOHs, Sundays, or bank holidays, and any necessary overtime is recorded and compensated with TOIL or additional pay—whichever suits you best. Part-time positions with an equal share of the Saturday rota are also available.

The practice is well-equipped with everything you’d expect, including X-ray, ultrasound, dentistry, an isolation unit, and more to support comprehensive case workups. They are an ISFM Silver practice, an RVN training practice, and proudly RCVS-accredited.

Situated on the border of Warwickshire, the location offers the best of both worlds—peaceful countryside combined with the vibrant culture of Birmingham. With excellent transport links, the motorway network close by, and Birmingham Airport just 10 minutes away, it’s a fantastic place to live and work.
