Job description

Part time Small Animal Vet at Goudhurst Vets (Maternity Cover) - Up to £45,000 FTE

We are searching for a Small Animal Vet to join us on a Maternity Leave contract until December 2025 for 20 hours per week.

Here at Goudhurst Vets we have a close team of vets who work alongside our fantastic registered veterinary nurses and support staff. As a practice we are extremely proud to have achieved the Outstanding Client Service award by the RCVS. We are a friendly team with loyal clients in a beautiful location. We have ultrasonography, radiography and in house blood machines, as well as a surgical suite, complemented by separate dog and cat wards helping us achieve our Silver Cat Friendly accreditation. Whilst you are with us we would expect you to work cases up and build relationships with your clients, offering the highest standards of care.

Ideally we would like for you to have a share in the 1:3 Saturday morning consults. No OOH work.

The successful candidate will ideally have a minimum of 2 years' experience post grad.

Our workload is primarily small animal, with a small percentage (5-10%) of first opinion equine, our ideal candidate would have experience with both, be happy with sole charge and confident with routine surgery and diagnostics. We can also accommodate 100% Small Animal in this role if you would prefer.

Apart from working alongside a supportive team, you get to enjoy the following benefits:
  • Competitive salary (£38,000-£45,000 FTE DOE)
  • Generous CPD budget
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays (+1 additional day every year, up to 5 years), plus the opportunity to sell/buy up to 2 weeks extra holiday - pro rata
  • VDS and RCVS fees covered
  • CVS pension scheme
  • Staff discount
  • Employee assistance programme
  • Save as you Earn scheme
  • Voluntary Private Medical insurance scheme
  • Health cash plan
  • Generous Maternity, Paternity & joint parental leave plans
