Job description

Looking for a veterinary role where clinical excellence, team spirit, and genuine work-life balance go hand in hand? This RCVS-accredited small animal training practice is offering an exciting opportunity for a veterinary surgeon to join an inclusive, friendly, and highly supportive team.

This practice has grown into a thriving, well-established practice with a glowing reputation in the local community. Since opening, they've focused on building a strong, cohesive team—many of whom have been with them for years. They have a culture of mutual respect, open communication, and the high-quality care they deliver to both pets and people alike.

The owner holds a certificate in advanced veterinary practice with a focus on surgery, including orthopaedics and minimally invasive procedures. They provide regular mentorship and clinical support, making the practice a great fit for vets looking to develop their surgical or medical skills further.

They offer 15-minute consults as standard, with 30-minute slots for complex cases and graduates. Each day is structured to allow catch-up time and same-day emergency appointments. One vet operates each day, with their consults beginning later in the afternoon. They also hold regular clinical meetings and have frequent informal case discussions.

The practice itself has recently been expanded and refurbished, creating a bright, modern space with excellent facilities including two theatres, separate cat and dog wards, endoscopy, ultrasound, capnography, electrosurgery, and laparoscopic spays as standard. They are fully equipped for you to pursue your clinical interests and offer support for certificate studies with both funding and dedicated CPD time.

They are based in the beautiful Cornish city of Truro, just a short drive from stunning beaches and countryside, and with easy access to Falmouth, Redruth, Liskeard, and Plymouth. It’s an ideal place to enjoy a fulfilling veterinary career without compromising your lifestyle.

They are looking for:

  1. A confident GP vet with excellent communication skills, a collaborative approach to practice, and a passion for high standards of care. If you’re a team player ready to contribute to a thriving practice—and grow with it—we’d love to hear from you.

The Offer:

  • Salary up to £60,000 FTE (commensurate with experience)
  • Flexible working (full-time is 40 hours across 4 days)
  • 1:3 Saturday rota (routine appointments only)
  • No out-of-hours
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave (pro-rata for part-time)
  • Paid RCVS and VDS memberships
  • Life assurance (4x annual salary)
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • CPD allowance and certificate support
  • Relocation allowance (for direct applicants)
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Access to colleague assistance programmes

Come and join a team that genuinely cares—about patients, clients, and each other.
