Job description

NHS Grampian Dental Services in partnership with Aberdeen Dental Hospital are looking to recruit for the post of Trainee Dental Nurse.

Successful candidates will be working alongside dentists, hygienists, therapists, and dental students in busy clinical environments as well as participating in a day release theory-based training programme.

This full-time 18-month fixed-term training contract will equip successful candidates with the knowledge, training, and practical experience required to meet the necessary standards within the SQA SVQ Dental Nursing qualification. Gaining this recognised qualification and entering onto the professional register with the General Dental Council are the first steps on the career pathway within the dental nursing care profession.

Entry onto the Dental Nurse Training Course requires candidates to possess a minimum of 3 National Grade level or equivalent qualifications, to include English and a Science.

As self-directed study is a major component of the training programme, it is essential that candidates possess a high level of commitment and willingness to study. A flexible and adaptable approach to work pattern and location are essential.

The job description attached is for a qualified dental nurse and is indicative of the post you will be training for and the skills and competencies you will gain.

Full Time 37 hours per week (Monday – Friday)

Salary – Annex 21 -70% Band 4 in the first 6 months rising to 75% in the remaining 12 months.
