Job summary

South Lanarkshire Council Careers is seeking a capable clerical assistant to join the Finance Section on a part-time, hybrid basis. The role involves budget monitoring, posting journals, and analysing income and expenditure, using Fusion Finance and P2P modules. Strong IT and communication skills are essential.

You will work 17.5 hours per week with core hours agreed, and hybrid working combining office days with remote work. Attention to detail and a professional approach are required.

  • Provide first-class clerical support within Finance Section.

  • Demonstrate proficient IT skills (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Support changing priorities in a professional manner.

Job Description

A challenging role has arisen which requires a self-motivated individual with strong organisational skills, to provide a first-class clerical support service within our Finance Section.

You will be involved in our budget monitoring process, including running financial ledgers/system reports, posting journals, analysing income/expenditure, operation of Fusion finance and P2P modules whilst working within tight timescales and supporting Finance Team priorities. Attention to detail is therefore essential.

You will also be involved in dealing with enquiries from internal and external customers and will be required to provide basic guidance on SLLC Policies. It is therefore essential that you possess excellent communication skills and a commitment to the principles of customer care.

You will be required to demonstrate excellent IT skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.

This role demands that you work in a highly professional manner, exercising confidentially and discretion at all times and that you are able to respond effectively to changing priorities.

Hybrid Working: This post operates on a hybrid working basis, combining office-based and home working. The successful candidate will be expected to attend the office on designated days, with the flexibility to work remote for the remainder of the week.

Overseas Criminal Records Check

An Overseas Criminal Records Check is required where applicants born outside the UK (Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland) or who have lived or worked outside the UK for a continuous period of twelve months in the past 10 years.
