Job summary

Valoris Group is seeking a Slinger/Banksman to support lifting operations on a large-scale commercial solar project in Ebbw Vale, starting March 2026. This self-employed CIS role requires coordination with crane operators and site teams to ensure safe lifting practices on-site.

Initial placement is in Ebbw Vale with ongoing opportunities on further solar and commercial projects across the UK, including travel to additional sites as projects progress.

Qualifications

• CSCS card required.
• Experience on large-scale construction or solar projects.
• Strong lifting operations and load control knowledge.
• Able to work outdoors in fast-paced environments.
• Full PPE provided and used.
• Willing to travel to UK sites.
• Experience with solar farms or renewable projects.
• Experience with mobile cranes and telehandlers.
• Additional tickets such as Telehandler, IPAF, or First Aid.

Responsibilities

• Direct crane and plant operations using signals.
• Attach, secure, and detach loads per lifting plans.
• Assist movement and placement of solar components.
• Maintain clear communication with crane operators and site teams.
• Monitor exclusion zones and ensure safe lifting practices.
• Stop operations if unsafe conditions arise.
• Assist with general site duties as required.

Overview: We are looking for an experienced Slinger / Banksman to support lifting operations on a large-scale commercial solar project in Ebbw Vale starting in March 2026. This role will play a key part in coordinating safe lifting activities across a busy construction environment, working closely with crane operators and site teams. Following completion of the initial project, there will be opportunities to continue onto further solar and commercial construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct and guide crane and plant operations using approved hand and radio signals
• Safely attach, secure, and detach loads in accordance with lifting plans
• Support the movement and placement of materials including solar infrastructure components, frames, and equipment
• Maintain clear communication with crane operators, supervisors, and site teams
• Monitor exclusion zones and ensure safe lifting practices are followed at all times
• Stop operations immediately if unsafe conditions arise
• Assist with general site duties where required

Requirements:

• CSCS card
• Previous experience on large-scale construction or solar farm projects
• Strong understanding of lifting operations, load control, and site safety procedures
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced outdoor environment
• Full PPE
