Job description

Core subject (Maths, English, or Science) SEN / SEND Tutors for Young People with SEND, SEMH, and other Additional Educational Needs required in South Yorkshire.

Multiple positions are available and hiring is ongoing to meet the wide variety of needs we support.

We are on a mission to transform the quality of education provided to young people with SEN (Special Education Needs) / SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities), as well as other needs such as SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health). We are increasing support for children and young people with MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties) and SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties).

We are looking for SEN / SEND tutors with a genuine passion for transforming the lives of disengaged, at-risk, and vulnerable learners in South Yorkshire.

At Targeted Provision, our mission is to raise the standard of educational support for vulnerable young people in the UK. We keep the team around the child, and you will be supported throughout every placement by our team of SEN / SEND Support Specialists.

This role is ideal for qualified SEN / SEND teachers eager to work via 1:1 tutoring with children and young people with diverse learning needs in a creative, flexible, holistic, and trauma-informed manner to boost their engagement and improve their educational journey.

The SEN / SEND Tutor role:
  • Providing Maths, English, or Science tuition to young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, or other needs referred to Targeted Provision
  • Supporting young people referred by local authorities and schools in their educational and social-emotional development
  • Delivering flexible, holistic, trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring to meet individual needs
SEN / SEND Tutor tasks and responsibilities:
  • Planning each teaching, tutoring, or mentoring session
  • Delivering engaging sessions that meet individual needs and support educational and social-emotional growth
  • Completing lesson reports and providing feedback on progress
SEN / SEND Tutor requirements:
  • Professional Teaching Qualifications (QTS / QTLS)
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience
  • Experience working with young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, or other needs
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Enhanced DBS (assistance available to obtain)
  • Two professional references
  • Based in the UK with right to work, including for remote assignments

It is essential to promote the health, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people and adhere to safeguarding policies at all times.

SEN / SEND Tutor employment status:
  • Engagement as a Worker for short-term assignments
  • Contract for service paid via PAYE
  • No guaranteed workload or expenses coverage
  • Insurance covers your work with us
  • Not a self-employed position
