A leading company is seeking a dedicated Support Worker for a delightful 6-year-old girl with complex care needs. This full-time permanent position offers comprehensive training and opportunities for personal development within a supportive family environment. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living, liaising with care teams, and engaging Megan in enjoyable activities.
Client/Child:
Megan, aged 6, loves watching the children’s series Bing, listening to music, swimming, sensory play, and playing with her younger brother. She has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and a PEG in situ for all her nutrition, fluids, and medication. Megan is non-verbal and has recently started exploring Grid Player to support her communication and help make choices. Her home is fully adapted to meet her needs, and she has a care team providing around-the-clock support. She is a full-time wheelchair user.
Megan’s team leader is going on maternity leave in February 2024, and we are seeking a Support Worker with experience in complex care to join the team. The role includes a full hand-over and transition period starting in the New Year. This is a full-time permanent position offering 5 days per week for 1 year, then reducing to 4 days per week thereafter.
Megan attends school, so during term-time, support is needed in the mornings and afternoons. In the mornings, the Support Worker will complete a handover with the waking night carer, support Megan in getting ready for school, and assist with the school run. After returning home, duties include preparing for the afternoon, tidying Megan’s bedroom and bathroom, organizing her therapy room, and updating daily logs via Log My Care. Afternoon activities depend on Megan’s schedule, and we encourage Support Workers to bring new ideas and research activities for her participation and enjoyment. The Support Worker will collaborate with Megan’s MDT therapy team to implement her programmes under guidance. Megan relies on others for all her care needs, so supporting in all areas of ADLs, including personal care, is essential. Continuous monitoring for choking risk, seizures, or illness is required.
During school holidays, hours are to be styled="font-size:11pt"
An outgoing, personable, bubbly, organized, and positive Support Worker confident in providing 1:1 support within a family setting. A confident driver, non-smoker/vaper, is essential.
Megan is a pleasure to work with. Her care team and case management team are fantastic, and her family is extremely supportive. You will receive bespoke training, ongoing supervision, and have opportunities to learn new skills.
