Overview

Skills Practitioner – Painting & Decorating. College location: East Surrey College (Redhill). Salary: £27,466. Hours: Full time (37 hours/week).

We are currently seeking to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic Skills Practitioner to join our busy and professional Construction department. Working closely with the Director of Learning, Programme Manager and the rest of the Construction team, you will support students in their learning of practical skills by assisting them in the workshop or classroom activities. Utilising your Painting and Decorating background, you will produce learning materials and teaching aids and assist in the preparation of learning areas for practical work.

You will assist the course leader in supervising students, student assessments, and ensure that student records are appropriately maintained as well as deliver teaching as required. You will also maintain a stock of consumables in accordance with departmental needs, maintain a record of resources and equipment and transport equipment and materials when necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Support students in practical skills learning in workshop or classroom settings.
  • Produce learning materials and teaching aids; assist in preparing learning areas for practical work.
  • Assist the course leader with supervision of students and student assessments; maintain student records.
  • Deliver teaching as required; manage stock of consumables and resources; transport equipment/materials as needed.
Qualifications
  • A Painting and Decorating based qualification (ideally at Level 2 or above).
  • A positive, self-motivated attitude and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Experience working with young people.
  • A Teaching Qualification is desirable but not essential.
