Job Opportunity: Skills Learning Tutor

We are seeking Skills Learning Tutors to start immediately! The successful candidates will work with Primary and Secondary pupils across Rhondda, in settings committed to providing excellent education and opportunities for all learners. Rhondda Council aims to foster a dynamic, inclusive community and to prepare students with relevant skills for their future careers.

This role is ideal for an enthusiastic and proactive Skills Learning Tutor who can motivate students and uphold high standards of learning. Responsibilities include supporting learners with basic skills, study skills, well-being, and pastoral issues. A solid background in Maths and Literacy is required, as some pupils will be preparing for GCSE exams.

All tutoring will be on a 1-2-1 basis, with additional training provided to ensure proper procedures are followed in this environment.

Candidate Requirements:
  • QTS is required — essential for the role
  • Level 3 or coaching qualification related to Education (not essential)
  • Experience in a learning support role (skills, pastoral, well-being — not essential)
  • Strong classroom and behavioural management skills, especially with challenging behaviours
  • Commitment to learner support and well-being with an inclusive, learner-centred approach
  • Effective communication skills with diverse groups including young people, parents, and professionals
