Job Opportunity: Skills Coach

We are looking for a passionate and self-motivated full-time Skills Coach to join our Supported Internship programme team in Barnet.

About the Role:

As a Skills Coach, you will play a central role in delivering our Mencap Training Academy. You will support learners with SEN to complete all elements of the programme, providing tailored support. The role involves working in the community classroom, supporting learners with mild to moderate learning disabilities and difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Be accountable for learner progression and ensuring young adults achieve skills for paid employment.
  2. Deliver support through various methods: 1-1 job coaching, classroom support to develop employability skills, and embedding English and Maths learning in the workplace.
  3. Support learners to acquire skills for sustained paid employment.
Key Skills and Requirements (Essential):
  • Experience supporting people with learning disabilities
  • Experience delivering against targets
  • Knowledge of safe working practices
  • Knowledge of the sector
  • A-C/9-4 English & Maths GCSE (or equivalent)
  • Good ICT skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Good record keeping and reporting skills
