Job summary

A leading multinational engineering firm in Manchester is seeking a Skilled Mechanical Fitter for an initial 3-month contract with potential for permanent placement. The ideal candidate will have a time-served apprenticeship in mechanical engineering and relevant experience in fitting and assembly. Responsibilities include assembling equipment, conducting tests, and ensuring quality standards. Competitive pay of up to £16.81 per hour is offered.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship within a Mechanical Engineering discipline, equivalent to City and Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 3.
• Computer literacy with a good command of Microsoft Office tools.
• Experience in mechanical fitting, particularly with pumps and machinery.

Responsibilities

• Assemble Pump & Mixer equipment according to procedures.
• Fit components as per engineering drawings.
• Conduct production tests and complete accurate reports.

Job description

PE Global is currently recruiting for a Skilled Mechanical Fitter for a leading multinational client that provides equipment and components for oil and gas drilling and production operations based in Middleton/Manchester.

This is an initial 3 months contract position with potential to go perm, paying up to £16.81 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Assemble Pump & Mixer equipment whilst working to company procedures
• Fitting of components and/or modules as directed by engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Work closely with colleagues during build/install to ensure a smooth and efficient build process
• Ability to conduct production tests to established procedures, and complete accurate test reports
• Ensure all components which are being assembled are fit for purpose
• Operate machines or use hand tools and power tools to secure parts in place
• To operate equipment in a safe manner, producing products which conforms to quality specifications
• Recording work carried out for tracking purposes

Education / Experience

• Time-served apprenticeship within a Mechanical Engineering discipline, equivalent to either City and Guilds Level 3, or NVQ Level 3 (essential)
• HNC / HND qualified or equivalent, with a Mechanical Engineering bias (desirable)
• Mechanical fitter experience in, for example, valves, machinery building, compressors, etc, however NOT automotive
• Experience of PC pumps and wastewater product assemblies (desirable)
• Mechanical Seal knowledge (desirable)
• Extensive experience of PC pumps and wastewater products, preferably within a service background (desirable)
• Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Outlook) (essential)
• Manual handing training / Slinging & Lifting Training (essential)
• HSE awareness (essential)
• Basic Electrical experience (desirable)
• Motor Wiring certified (desirable)
