Job summary

Crown Packaging Manufacturing UK Limited in Carlisle is seeking a skilled mechanic to maintain and service a range of production machinery in a 24/7 operation on a 2x12 hour shift pattern.

You will diagnose faults, read drawings, perform repairs, and help improve machine reliability, with a competitive salary and benefits package including pension, private medical, life cover, and on-site facilities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a skilled mechanic in manufacturing or industrial settings.
• Qualification in mechanical discipline (NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, City & Guilds).
• Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Commitment to health and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned, preventative and corrective maintenance on production machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and failures using diagnostic tools.
• Execute repairs, replacements, and adjustments of mechanical components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and manuals for troubleshooting.
• Ensure work complies with health and safety regulations and quality standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement to improve machine reliability.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts used, and equipment performance.
• Collaborate with production teams, engineers and maintenance staff to ensure smooth operations.
• Participate in training programs to learn new technologies and equipment.
• Assist with installation and commissioning of new machinery as required.
