Job summary

Kidsgrove Secondary School is seeking a reliable Site Technician to join our premises team. You will help secure the buildings, perform routine cleaning and maintenance, and monitor essential systems to keep the site safe and welcoming for pupils.

You will undertake minor repairs (plumbing, joinery, painting), manage consumables, and assist with setting up furniture and events. The role requires independence, practicality and a commitment to high standards across the school site.

Qualifications

• Experience in site maintenance or facilities management is preferred.
• Willingness to perform cleaning and basic repairs as needed.
• Able to respond to emergencies and adapt to changing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Secure the school premises and ensure doors, gates and alarms are set correctly.
• Carry out routine cleaning and general maintenance of the site.
• Monitor heating, lighting and alarm systems and report faults.
• Carry out minor repairs including plumbing and joinery tasks.
• Paint and decorate as required and assist with decorating projects.
• Manage waste and consumables, and arrange disposal where needed.
• Set up and move furniture for events or daily use.
• Respond to spillages, blockages and adverse weather conditions promptly.

We are looking for a reliable and practical Site technician to join our school team and help ensure our premises are safe, secure, clean and well maintained.

Working under the direction of senior staff, you will be responsible for the day-to-day care of the school site, including securing the premises, carrying out routine cleaning and maintenance, monitoring heating, lighting and alarm systems, and ensuring the school and grounds remain safe, tidy and welcoming.

The role will include carrying out minor repairs and maintenance, basic plumbing and joinery, painting and decorating, managing waste and consumables, setting up and moving furniture, and responding to issues such as spillages, blockages and adverse weather conditions.

You will play an important role in supporting the smooth running of the school, contributing to a positive school environment and helping to promote the safety, wellbeing, inclusion and welfare of all pupils.

We are looking for someone who is reliable, practical, proactive and able to work independently, with a flexible approach and a commitment to maintaining high standards across the school site.
