Job description

Randstad are recruiting for a Freelance Site Supervisor / Foreman to work on a rail upgrade in Suffolk.

The successful candidate must have Rail experience as a site Supervsior or General Foreman.

Duties will include:

  • On-Site Management & Coordination
    • Supervise, coordinate, and delegate tasks to the on-site labour and subcontractors.

    • Manage daily and weekly work schedules to meet project deadlines.

    • Lead daily briefings (e.g., toolbox talks) and site inductions for new personnel.

    • Resolve on-site issues and conflicts promptly to maintain workflow.

    Health & Safety
    • Enforce all health and safety regulations and ensure a safe working environment.

    • Conduct regular site safety inspections and risk assessments.

    • Ensure all personnel wear the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

    • Report and document any accidents, incidents, or near misses immediately.

    Quality Control & Planning
    • Monitor workmanship to ensure it meets quality standards and project requirements.

    • Identify and rectify any defects in the work.

    • Assist in short-term planning to overcome challenges and keep the project on schedule.

    Resource & Materials Management
    • Oversee the receipt, inspection, and proper storage of materials and equipment.

    • Monitor resource usage to prevent waste and ensure efficiency.

    • Manage the correct use and maintenance of plant, tools, and equipment.

    Communication & Reporting
    • Act as the primary on-site point of contact for the workforce and subcontractors.

    • Report progress, delays, and issues directly to the Project Manager or Site Manager.

    • Maintain accurate site records, including a daily diary, timesheets, and delivery dockets.

    • Liaise with inspectors from local authorities or regulatory bodies as required.
