Your new company You will be working at HMP Hindley for a facilities management and maintenance company. This company ensures that all maintenance projects throughout the prison are completed to a high standard. HMP Hindley is a prison based in Wigan.

Your new role Your new job will be a temporary role with the view of being permanent. Monday to Friday 07:30–16:30. Working weekends is paid at overtime rates.

  1. To manage and supervise the workforce, work for the programme, manage labour, cost and maximise value, and improve productivity
  2. Deliver work to the highest standards of quality, health and safety, and customer service
  3. Manage, communicate with and motivate workforce teams
  4. Manage workforce timesheets and annual leave
  5. Undertake workforce inductions and team briefs
  6. Maintain accurate records to ensure correct allocation and valuation of completed works
  7. Consider the impact of work on the customer and undertake appropriate liaison both before and during operations
  8. Participate in the supervision of other sites/establishments where necessary

What you'll need to succeed

  1. Experience of managing, communicating and motivating workforce teams
  2. Knowledge and understanding of personal health and safety, method statements and risk assessments
  3. Manual handling
  4. Good numeracy, literacy and IT skills
  5. Good communication skills
  6. Ability to organise and manage work programmes
  7. You will also have to go through security checks to gain an enhanced level 1 prison clearance. This can take 3–8 weeks prior to the start date.

What you'll get in return

You will be paid a £35k/36k salary, plus any overtime rates. This will be paid on a weekly basis. There is a chance you could be offered a permanent position if you impress the site managers. Any weekend work is paid at a higher rate.
