Site Supervisor (Road Surfacing)

Job Overview:

The Road Surfacing Site Supervisor will oversee day-to-day site operations for road surfacing and associated works, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, to specification, and within budget. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of surfacing techniques, plants, and materials.

Key Responsibilities:

Site
Management

Supervise
and coordinate surfacing crews, plant operators, and subcontractors.

Manage
daily work schedules, resource allocation, and site logistics.

Ensure
work is completed to agreed technical standards, quality specifications, and deadlines.

Health,
Safety & Environment (HSE)

Enforce compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Conduct
site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.

Report
and investigate near misses, incidents, and non-compliance issues.

Quality Control

Monitor surfacing quality, compaction levels, line and level tolerances.

Liaise
with laboratory technicians for material testing and results.

Address
defects and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.

Communication
& Coordination

Act
as the main point of contact between the site and project management team.

Coordinate
with suppliers, clients, and local authorities as needed.

Prepare and submit daily site reports, progress updates, and as-built records.

Cost & Resource Management

Monitor
material usage, plant hours, and labour costs.

Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or quality

Requirements:

Proven
experience in road surfacing or civil engineering works.

Strong knowledge of surfacing plant, equipment, and materials.

SSSTS
or SMSTS certification.

CSCS
card (Supervisory level ).

Excellent
leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with all stakeholders.

Full
UK driving licence.
