Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Site Supervisor (Scottish power authorised) to lead on-site activities across UK projects. You will coordinate resources, manage safety, quality and timelines from site handover through commissioning and handback to the customer.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in electrical or mechanical engineering, 5+ years in construction/installation, strong leadership, and knowledge of transmission regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction or installation.
  • Understanding of transmission regulations and current HSE legislation.
  • Proven leadership with collaborative, solutions-oriented approach.
  • Proactive and flexible personality.
  • Scottish power authorised.

Responsibilities

  • Plan on-site activities with Project Manager, coordinating resources, equipment, and milestones.
  • Manage site from handover to completion, coordinating start-up, construction, erection, testing and commissioning.
  • Represent project on site and build relationships with customers and stakeholders.
  • Ensure correct handling, storage and installation of equipment to avoid damage.
  • Maintain RAMS in line with health and safety plan for each work package.
  • Ensure on-site resources are trained and promote health and safety.
  • Monitor project costs and forecast final costs.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation and ensure latest revisions are used on site.
  • Manage sub-contractors to meet quality and delivery standards.
  • Report regularly on site activities, HSE, quality, progress, and costs.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Site Supervisor (Scottish power authorised) at Hitachi Energy, Grid Integration business (PGGI). The sites you will manage can be anywhere in United Kingdom. In this position, you will lead all on-site activities of a project to assure cost-effective execution of project deliverables in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, schedule, and safety requirements during the start-up, construction and/or erection, commissioning and maintenance phases.

Please note we are unable to provide visa support on this position.

How you’ll make an impact
  • Planning project on-site activities together with the Project Manager, including necessary resources, equipment and milestones. Coordinating agreement between customer and external resources on construction targets, health and safety requirements, site organization and policy.
  • Responsible for the site, from receiving the assigned site area from the customer until handing over it back to the customer on completion day. This responsibility includes coordination of all on-site activities to ensure the successful execution of start-up, construction, erection, testing and commissioning activities in alignment with contract specifications, quality standards, schedule, and safety requirements.
  • Serving as a project representative on site. Build and maintain effective relationships with customers as well as other local stakeholders.
  • Ensuring correct handling, storage and installation of equipment and material to avoid any damages. Report promptly to project logistics when goods have been received to site.
  • Ensuring that detailed and up-to-date risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are in place in respect of each work package, compliant with the project health and safety plan.
  • Ensuring all on-site resources are properly trained and proactively promote health and safety considerations to project partners throughout the project.
  • Controlling project cost for the project site work, monitors actual spend against forecasts, and estimates final cost for the same.
  • Ensuring all documentation is modified and updated as necessary, the document handling system is maintained, and latest revisions are used for the construction work on site.
  • Managing the sub-contractors on site to ensure that necessary quality and progress are achieved to meet delivery date and agreed standards.
  • Report regularly to the Project Manager on site activities, HSE (health, safety, environment), quality, progress, cost.
Your Background
  • Bachelor's in electrical/mechanical engineering, or equivalent skills
  • 5+ years’ experience in construction and/or installation business
  • Good understanding of the transmission regulations and current HSE legislation.
  • Proven leadership skills, with a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and strong communication skills.
  • Proactive and flexible personality
