About the role

Site Supervisor

Full Time

Permanent

Salary - £43,775 per annum

Location - Hanningfield, Chelmsford

About the Role

Are you ready to take the next step in your construction, utilities or operational career? We’re looking for an ambitious and motivated individual to join our Network Design and Construction team as a Construction Supervisor. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has experience working within construction, utilities, civil engineering or a similar environment and is looking to develop into a leadership role. We will provide you with full training.

As a Construction Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in delivering essential infrastructure projects across our water network, including mains renewals, lead replacement programmes, diversions and new developments. You’ll work alongside experienced colleagues who will support your development, helping you build the technical knowledge, leadership skills and operational experience needed to succeed.

This role offers exposure to a wide range of projects and stakeholders. You’ll learn how to coordinate work programmes, manage resources, oversee health and safety compliance and ensure high-quality delivery of construction activities while minimising disruption to our customers and communities.

Working across the Suffolk area, you’ll support field teams and contractors, helping to monitor progress, resolve issues and drive continuous improvement. We are committed to investing in your development and will provide training, coaching and opportunities to gain further industry knowledge and qualifications.

This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys problem solving, building relationships and making a tangible difference through the successful delivery of infrastructure projects.

About You

We’re looking for someone with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and the ambition to develop into a confident construction leader. You may already have some experience within construction, utilities, civil engineering or a related operational environment, but equally important is your ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively and take ownership of your work.

You don’t need to have done this exact role before. We welcome applications from people who can demonstrate leadership potential, whether that’s through previous supervisory responsibilities, mentoring colleagues, coordinating projects or taking the lead on site activities.

You’ll be someone who enjoys working with people, can manage competing priorities and remains calm when faced with challenges. A strong focus on health, safety and customer service is essential, as is a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Experience of water networks, isolation operations, deep excavations or large plant would be beneficial, but we’ll support the right candidate in developing their knowledge and understanding in these areas. Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is eager to learn, embraces new challenges and is excited about building a long-term career with us.

A full UK driving licence is required for this role.

Here at Northumbrian Water/Essex & Suffolk Water, we embrace and value Diversity, Inclusion and Equity which means bringing your full self to work. We encourage and welcome all applications, as we believe and strive to be an equal opportunity employer committed in having a diverse community represented within all our teams, structures, and organisation. We have our colleague network groups, including Rainbow Support Network (LGBT+), REACH (Race, Ethnicity, and Cultural Heritage), WiSTEM (Women in STEM) and Thisability (disability and neurodiversity) networks too.
