Role Description
Reporting to the Site Services Manager, this role involves managing the services team responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Site Services assets. The role includes managing and reporting energy/utility usage, ensuring the application of best practices in energy generation, distribution, waste, and effluent disposal. Working within the Engineering function, the aim is to achieve operational efficiency at the lowest cost, supporting the manufacturing vision and strategy.
Responsibilities
- Safety, Quality, Hygiene
- Undertake duties responsibly, adhering to Safety, Environmental, & Quality procedures.
- Ensure compliance with H&S policies like Lock Off, Tag out, and Permit to Work system.
- Demonstrate safe behavior and manage health & safety of the engineering team and contractors.
- Investigate accidents and Near Misses.
- Maintain GMP standards in all areas.
- Operations Management
- Oversee maintenance, spare parts, and efficient operation of utility equipment.
- Collaborate with Suppliers/Contractors to ensure utility delivery, troubleshoot issues, explore cost options, and support system modifications.
- Conduct joint audits of service lines per outsourcing contracts.
- Plan and coordinate maintenance works to minimize manufacturing disruption, liaising with Planning and Production teams.
- Complete documentation and record data accurately.
- Report anomalies and data to management.
- Site Services and Energy Management
- Manage all aspects of site services, ensuring statutory compliance and performance standards for environmental impact and supply continuity.
- Operate within a KPI framework to improve water, air, gas, electricity, and steam (WAGES) performance.
- Support utility consumption reduction aligned with group targets.
- Share best practices and provide advice within operational peer groups.
- Implement group energy strategies to enhance energy efficiency and reduce costs.
Role Requirements
- HNC in a relevant engineering discipline with proven success in results and change management.
- Strong utilities and compliance experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, preferably FMCG.
- Understanding of SSOW and team management experience.
- Knowledge of World Class Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency in SAP, Microsoft Office suite, and Project.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Practical understanding of factory services such as electricity, steam, compressed air, and water.
- Adherence to Food Safety, Legality, and Quality standards.
