Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking an Electrician to join one of our static sites in the Chester region. You will perform general maintenance, statutory compliance checks, and basic trades.

Strong client-facing skills and a smart appearance are required, with good English communication abilities. Responsibilities include planned and reactive maintenance across varied environments, coordinating with sub-contractors, and ensuring work meets health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Craft qualification in electrical installation or equivalent.
• Current wiring regulations qualification (18th edition) preferred.
• Valid grade card/CSCS or equivalent.
• Experience in a similar role is essential.
• Inspection and testing qualification desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan, inspect, and carry out repairs or preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns promptly.
• Carry out reactive and planned services across offices, commercial, and industrial sites.
• Perform basic plumbing, carpentry, redecoration tasks and statutory ppm inspections.
• Support subcontractors on site and provide technical guidance to the client.
• Ensure work complies with specifications and Health & Safety regulations.

Job description

About The Role:

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 07:00 - 16:00

We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrician to join one or our static site's in the Chester region.

You will be required to carry out general maintenance and statutory compliance checks and will be required to have basic plumbing, electrical and fabric maintenance skills, ideally with experience working in a similar facilities management environment.

The role will require client engagement and a willingness to provide the best possible solutions to meet the client’s needs, so you will be required to maintain a smart appearance. You must have a good understand of both spoken and written English.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Planning, inspecting, and carrying out repairs or preventative maintenance as required and responding to breakdowns in a timely fashion.
• Carry out reactive and planned services in a range of environments from offices, commercial, distribution and industrial premises.
• To undertake basic plumbing, carpentry, redecoration tasks and carrying out statutory ppm
• Trade skills are desirable or previous experience performing in a similar role
• Carrying out statutory inspection of assets including Emergency Lighting, Water Temperature checks, Fire Door inspection and repairs, Plumbing repairs, Lighting checks including basic replacements and other minor reactive works.
• Being an ambassador for the customer; dealing professionally with complaints and queries
• Support engineer sub-contractors upon attending site.
• Providing technical guidance to the client and contract support
• Carrying out minor building fabric repairs
• Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with agreed specifications and in line with Health & Safety legislation.
• Upkeeping of site documentation
• Ensure accurate and timely communication with the client & OCS
• Ensure that health and safety is adhered to at all times

You should meet the following criteria:

• A craft qualification such as a recognised electrical apprenticeship such as or equivalent to City & Guilds 2350 NVQ Level 2 /3 Electrical Installation Engineering
• The current wiring regulations qualification such as or equal to City & Guilds 2381-18 Level 3 Award (18th Edition)
• Valid and in date Grade card/CSCS Card or equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience in similar role is essential
• An Inspection & Testing qualification such as or equal to City & Guilds 2391-52 Level 3 Award in Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations (Desirable)

To be successful in this role you will need:

• Must be IT literate to a good standard using Microsoft Word, Excel etc
• Experience in a comparable role undertaking basic plumbing, carpentry, redecoration tasks and carrying out statutory ppm inspections with a good understanding of Health & Safety working practices
• Understanding of planned preventative maintenance regimes
• Experience of completing risk assessments and method statements; along with issuing permit to work for hard service tasks
• Experience using BMS system(s).
• Knowledge of maintenance schedules and SFG 20 would be desirable
• Ability to record work accurately on work sheets and computer-based systems
