About the role

Balfour Beatty has an amazing opportunity for an Site/Section Engineer (Assistant Package Manager) to join our amazing Major Projects team to work at our iconic Old Oak Common development in London.

HS2s new c. 1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UKs best-connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will be responsible for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station in Northwest London.

Upon completion, the new station will boast six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. Old Oak Common will also provide high speed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, and the North, as well as direct services to three major airports. Incorporating passenger and retail facilities, the new station will provide an exceptional customer experience for both passengers and visitors to the station.

As an Site/Section Engineer (Assistant Package Manager) you will Support the management of the WP10.2 Subcontractor for the HS2 Head houses and Ancillary Buildings Structural Steelwork, Cladding, Facade and Glazing, RC, Fit-out and its interfaces with other work packages, MEP, Fit Out, and Urban Realm.

What you'll be doing

As an Assistant Package Manager, your main responsibilities are as follows:

• Provide support in ensuring quality standards are met across works entrusted. In particular ensure quality hold points and quality witness points are adhered to by the subcontractors.
• Ensure progress of works entrusted is accurately reported and documented
• Participate in ensuring quality records provided by the subcontractor are accurate
• Establish strong working relationships with subcontractor engineers, works managers and supervisors.
• Act as the main point of contact of BBVS package managers for any site related matters on the works entrusted.
• Issuance of all package documentation and communications required to successfully deliver the package scope.

• Steelwork, Cladding, RC, Fit-out experience
• Understanding of quality assurance process
• Experience supporting the management of subcontractor activities to support scheme delivery
• Construction related degree (BSC/BEng/MSC/MEng)

About us

HS2's station construction partner, Balfour Beatty VINCI Systra joint venture (BBVS) are leading the construction of HS2's new Old Oak Common Station. Set to be the best connected and largest new railway stations ever built in the UK, Old Oak Common will become one of the country's most vital transport super hubs. The station will have 14 platforms, a mix of six high speed and eight conventional service platforms, with an 850m-long station box. It is expected to be one of the busiest railway stations in the country with high speed rail services to the midlands, Scotland and the North and access to central London and Heathrow via the Crossrail Elizabeth Line.
