Job Description:

Manage trillions of objects in storage, retrieve them in sub-x ms, develop software that deploys to tens of thousands of hosts, and achieve 99.999999999% (11 nines) durability. The team works on the scale of Simple Storage Service (S3) and Glacier, tackling complex challenges daily. We seek a talented engineer motivated to solve these challenges, capable of rethinking systems, processes, and tools. A background in Operations, Networking, and System development is essential.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) operates some of the world's largest internet infrastructure, providing cloud services like compute, storage, and databases. The AWS Utility Computing (UC) team supports these services, including security solutions for cloud services.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Participate in daily engineering activities, providing technical guidance and support.
  2. Define architecture, design, and proof-of-concept efforts for projects, ensuring quality and simplicity.
  3. Design, implement, deploy, and maintain distributed system software to improve security, durability, availability, performance, and cost-efficiency.
  4. Manage complex projects independently and responsibly.
  5. Communicate with customers and technical teams to align strategies.
  6. Stay updated with new technologies, researching and integrating advancements.
  7. Apply software engineering best practices to maintain high-quality deliverables.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
  • Experience designing or architecting systems (reliability, scaling)
  • Experience in networking, storage, operating systems, and hands-on systems engineering
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby)
  • Experience automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with AWS cloud solutions in a DevOps environment
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build processes
  • Experience building services using AWS products
