Job summary

Cavendish Professionals seeks a hands-on Site Reliability / Infrastructure Engineer for a highly technical engineering environment supporting UK Government projects. You will build, deploy and maintain reliable production systems, with heavy Docker and Kubernetes usage and a focus on automation and IaC.

The role requires 1–5 years in SRE/Infra, and a degree in CS/Engineering. Location is London-area with eligibility for UK DV security clearance.

Qualifications

• 1–5 years' experience in SRE/Infrastructure/Platform Engineering or similar.
• Experience building and deploying production systems (not just support/debugging).
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production.
• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline from a highly ranked university.
• Exposure to Terraform, Ansible, IaC and/or CI/CD would be advantageous.

We are looking for a hands-on Site Reliability / Infrastructure Engineer to join a highly technical engineering environment, working on complex, production-critical systems supporting UK Government projects.

What you'll be doing

• Building, deploying and maintaining highly reliable production systems.
• Working extensively with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
• Developing and improving infrastructure tooling and automation.
• Troubleshooting complex infrastructure and distributed systems issues.
• Improving reliability, scalability, monitoring and operational performance.
• Working closely with software engineers and technical teams to deliver secure production systems.
• Contributing to Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD processes.

What we're looking for

• 1–5 years' experience within Site Reliability Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Platform Engineering or a similar position.
• Demonstrable experience building and deploying production systems – candidates with purely support/debugging backgrounds will not be suitable.
• Strong hands-on Docker and Kubernetes experience.
• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely related discipline from a highly ranked university.
• Experience working within complex, technically demanding production environments.
• Exposure to Terraform, Ansible, Infrastructure-as-Code and/or CI/CD would be advantageous.
• Background within defence technology, cloud infrastructure, large-scale technology or similarly complex engineering environments would be beneficial.
• Based within 30 minutes of the London site, or willing to relocate.
