Job summary

Viasat is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to bridge the gap between software development and operational reliability within the SAS group. You will own deployments, investigate incidents, and help migrate to a modern DevOps culture.

Based in the UK, you will work with AWS, Docker, Prometheus and data pipelines, collaborating with developers and operations to improve resilience, monitor health, maintain runbooks, and ensure timely incident response and transparent communication.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building and operating large-scale data pipelines and services.
• Strong at incident management and ITSM tooling (ServiceNow).
• Hands-on with cloud platforms and container orchestration.
• Proficient in scripting and automation for reliability and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve incidents and requests raised via the ServiceNow ticketing system.
• Manage deployments across development, staging and production environments.
• Monitor application and infrastructure health using observability tools; respond to anomalies.
• Own and maintain CI/CD pipelines; improve build, test and deployment automation.
• Champion DevOps practices and automation within the SAS group.
• Manage containerised workloads using Docker; support services on AWS.
• Write and maintain operational scripts to automate tasks and investigations.
• Collaborate with software developers to improve resilience and reliability.
• Maintain runbooks, deployment guides and incident post-mortems.
• Provide progress updates to the SAS group and wider stakeholders.
• Support on-call and out-of-hours incident response when required.
