Job summary

Vanguard is seeking a hands-on Site Reliability Engineer to join our IST Run Europe team, focusing on incident management and SRE for UK and European platforms. The role is part of a global model with colleagues in Australia and the US, aiming to keep our international applications resilient as we scale.

You will collaborate with engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders across the UK and Europe, driving incident response, resiliency testing, and the adoption of SRE best practices

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts and practices.
• Excellent communication skills to engage stakeholders across functions.
• Ability to drive change and embed reliability standards across teams.
• AWS experience; AWS certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate cross-product chaos and resiliency experiments to identify weaknesses before incidents.
• Drive adoption of reliability standards, tools, and frameworks across Europe. Lead cultural change to embed SRE practices.
• Stay connected with Reliability Engineering communities and bring knowledge back to the team.

Job description

The Role

This role sits within IST Run Europe, covering incident management and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) for our UK and European platforms. The team is part of a global operating model with counterparts in Australia and the US, together providing coverage for the suite of Vanguard's international applications across both consumer-facing and business-to-business channels, applications that are critical to the continued success of our international businesses. The successful candidate will join a close-knit, hands-on team focused on keeping these platforms resilient as we continue to scale. You'll work alongside engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders across the UK and Europe, as well as peer SRE teams globally, to drive incident response, resiliency testing, and the adoption of SRE best practices across app teams in the region.

In this role you will

• Coordinate cross-product chaos and resiliency experimentation to proactively identify weaknesses before they become incidents.
• Drive the adoption of new reliability standards, tools, and frameworks across app teams and stakeholders in Europe, championing the cultural change needed to embed SRE practices.
• Stay plugged into the broader SRE community, regularly engaging with Reliability Engineering and Resilience communities of practice and bringing that knowledge back to the team.
• Participate in special projects and other duties as the role and team's needs evolve.

Special Factors

• This is a hybrid position and would require you to work in the office 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday)
