Job Description:

My client is at the forefront of the energy transition, delivering cutting-edge Battery Energy Storage Systems that enhance grid flexibility, stability, and sustainability. With a growing portfolio of large-scale energy storage projects, they are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Site Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of a landmark BESS project.

Role Overview

As the Electrical Site Project Manager, you will play a critical, client-facing role in the planning, coordination, and execution of all electrical works on-site. You will be responsible for managing the interface with the Independent Connection Provider (ICP), ensuring timely and compliant grid connection. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and excellent communication skills to navigate complex stakeholder relationships and deliver the project to the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all electrical construction activities on site, including installation, commissioning, and energisation of the BESS system.
  • Act as the primary client-facing representative at the site level, ensuring open communication and effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Manage the relationship with the ICP, coordinating grid connection milestones, interface points, and compliance with DNO/DSO requirements.
  • Oversee subcontractors, electrical engineers, and site teams to ensure adherence to project timelines, safety protocols, and specifications.
  • Monitor progress, resolve site-level issues, and report status to senior management and client stakeholders.
  • Liaise with design, procurement, and commissioning teams to ensure smooth handovers and coordinated execution.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across the site.
  • Manage documentation related to electrical systems, QA/QC records, energisation plans, and permits.
  • Identify and manage risks and implement mitigation plans related to grid connection and electrical infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in delivering large-scale energy or infrastructure projects, preferably including BESS, renewables, or HV electrical systems.
  • Demonstrable experience managing ICP relationships and overseeing grid connection works.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK grid connection processes, DNO/DSO frameworks, and electrical construction standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and client management skills.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, SLDs, and technical documents.
  • Familiarity with CDM regulations and site-based HSE practices.
  • Willingness to be site-based full time with occasional travel to other offices or stakeholder locations.
