Tarmac, a leading construction materials and infrastructure solutions business in the UK, is seeking a Site Operative for its site in Lutterworth, Leicestershire. The role involves supporting landfill and waste management activities with a strong emphasis on safety and environmental compliance.

You will operate mobile plant, maintain equipment, and assist with daily site operations while ensuring high standards of health and safety.

Formación

• Experience operating mobile plant machinery.
• Experience in landfill, waste management or similar industrial environment (desirable).
• Strong commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow operational procedures.

Responsabilidades

• Operate and maintain a range of mobile plant including excavation, haulage, compaction and grading equipment.
• Manage the landfill tipping area with correct compaction and daily covering.
• Support safe management of visiting haulage contractors and maintain a safe on-site environment.
• Carry out inspections to identify hazards, site instability, gas emissions, leachate issues or other environmental concerns.
• Perform duty of care checks on waste streams to ensure compliance with site acceptance criteria.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections and minor maintenance tasks.
• Maintain site infrastructure such as wheel wash facilities, haul roads and litter management.

We are currently seeking a

Site Operative to join our team based in

Lutterworth, Leicestershire. Working within a multi-disciplined operational environment, you'll play a key role in supporting landfill and waste management activities, contributing to the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible running of the site.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Site Operative, you'll report directly to the Site Supervisor and be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operational activities across the landfill site. Your role will include:

• Operating and maintaining a range of mobile plant including excavation, haulage, compaction, and grading equipment
• Managing the landfill tipping area, ensuring waste is correctly compacted and covered at the end of each day
• Supporting the safe management of visiting haulage contractors and maintaining a safe working environment for everyone on site
• Carrying out inspections to identify hazards, site instability, gas emissions, leachate issues, or other environmental concerns
• Performing duty of care checks on waste streams and products to ensure compliance with site acceptance criteria
• Conducting routine equipment inspections and minor maintenance activities
• Maintaining various site infrastructure, including wheel wash facilities, haul roads, dewatering systems, litter management, and general housekeeping
• Supporting wider operational activities that improve site performance and environmental compliance

What We Are Looking For

We're looking for a proactive and safety-focused individual who enjoys working outdoors in a practical, operational environment.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience operating mobile plant machinery
• Previous experience within landfill, waste management, or a similar industrial environment (desirable)
• A strong commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental standards
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow operational procedures
• A positive, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to learn and develop

It would also be advantageous if you hold a recognised mobile plant qualification or certification such as

NVQ, EPIC, or CITB.
