Job description

Help us make a difference as a Plant Operative at our facility in Hull.

Pay: £12.42 per hour

Hours: 4 on 4 off shifts, 12 hours, 6am til 6pm

A quick look at the role

As a Site Operative, you will work as part of the plant Operations team to drive effective, timely, and cost-effective waste operations on the recycle processing site.

The Biffa division you’ll be supporting

Biffa Green Energy is part of our Resources & Energy division that aims to produce solid recovered fuel pellets from non-recyclable household waste. Pellets are used as a coal substitution in heavy industry, offering carbon emission savings. This is a great opportunity to work in a growing sustainable industry.

Your core responsibilities
  1. Work closely with team members, Site Managers, and Supervisors to ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Quality, and Environment policies, procedures, management systems, and regulations.
  2. Monitor the drying floor for smoke and trigger alarms if observed.
  3. Assist in hazard spotting activities.
  4. Assist in the loading/unloading process of bins and skips, and work within the waste process as required.
  5. Use equipment to assist recycling processes as required.
  6. Collaborate with Fitters/Electricians and the Site Manager on plant maintenance to ensure smooth operations.
  7. Help clean and maintain plant and machinery onsite.
  8. Carry out general housekeeping.
Requirements
  1. Flexible approach to working hours.
  2. Ability to work as part of a team.
  3. Punctuality.
  4. A good level of English; previous experience on fast-moving production lines is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.
