Job summary

FCC Environment is hiring for a Site Operative at Ampthill to help the public separate waste streams and maximise recycling across the site.

You will ensure correct waste segregation, assist visitors, and maintain a clean, safe site in line with permit requirements. The role is full-time with a 34.5 hour week and opportunities for progression.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in a similar role.
• Knowledge of the waste industry and waste streams.
• A valid UK driving licence.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team or on your own.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring different waste streams are segregated into the appropriate containers.
• Assisting members of the public with separating their waste and providing general recycling advice.
• Greeting members of the public and helping them to use the site effectively.
• Ensuring waste is stored safely and in accordance with permit requirements.
• Ensuring hazardous waste is separated and stored appropriately.
• Keeping the site clean and tidy at all times.
• Identifying contaminated recyclable materials and taking appropriate action.
• Reporting Health and Safety incidents and near misses in accordance with company procedures.
• Ensuring waste tickets, Waste Transfer Notes and Consignment Notes are completed correctly.
• Working in accordance with FCC company policies, risk assessments and safe working practices.

As a Site Operative at FCC Environment, you will assist members of the public and ensure waste is correctly separated into the appropriate waste streams, helping to maximise recycling across the site.
