Job Description:
My client seeks a Site Operations & Warehouse Manager to oversee warehousing and domestic transport within a busy Airfreight and distribution centre. Responsibilities include managing the site and facilities, ensuring logistics solutions are cost-efficient and enhance customer service. Key Responsibilities
- Manage transport administration, planning, and third-party carriers & internal drivers, including inbound and outbound warehouse operations.
- Oversee stock management, staff, and resource allocation.
- Maintain safety standards, housekeeping, and a safe working environment.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives aligned with a kaizen environment.
- Liaise with internal and external customers, ensuring high-quality standards, accreditation, KPIs, and SLAs are met.
- Ensure health, safety, and welfare regulations are followed and address H&S and maintenance issues.
- Manage quality and environmental standards and coordinate with external contractors and landlords.
- Fulfill security responsibilities as the designated Responsible Person.
Additional Duties
- Plan resources and staff to meet daily operational needs and performance targets.
- Supervise operational staff to ensure timely unloading, storage, picking, packing, and loading activities.
- Maintain risk assessments and safe systems of work; monitor operational costs.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with procedures and regulations.
- Coordinate maintenance and repairs of operational machinery, including security equipment.
- Manage communication between team members, management, customers, and suppliers.
- Oversee domestic transport activities in collaboration with the Transport Manager and 3PL partners, ensuring service quality and profitability.
- Encourage continuous improvement and maintain a positive Kaizen environment.
- Handle staff disciplinary processes in collaboration with HR and monitor performance, attendance, and holidays.
- Maintain staff training and records, and manage supplier information.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ managerial experience in warehouse and transport environments.
- Experience in airfreight logistics preferred.
- Strong leadership and motivational skills.
- Flexible, reliable, and results-oriented.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure.
- Experience as an AvSec and H&S Representative.
- Budget management experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
- O Licence desirable; training can be provided.
