Job Title: Site Operating Technician

As a Site Operating Technician for the Embedded assets fleet of OCGT’s and Gas Engines, you will contribute to the day-to-day operational and maintenance requirements of the Hythe and remote sites. Your responsibilities include operating the Hythe plant and remote sites from the control room, executing plant operational routines in line with procedures, fault diagnosis, and breakdown recovery.

You will perform operational duties on a full shift cycle, including 'call out' duties outside regular hours. Occasional travel across the UK may be required to support the EA portfolio. You will collaborate with Engineering & Outage teams for plant shutdowns and recommissioning.

You will manage contractors for routine and non-routine work packages; Contract Manager or Contract Engineer accreditation is desirable.

This role offers flexible working within a site team environment, providing diverse operations and maintenance responsibilities, and opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement and maximize station potential.

Key Accountabilities
  1. Operate and maintain plant to ensure safety, environmental compliance, and statutory requirements.
  2. Perform routine duties to maintain plant performance, availability, and reliability.
  3. Apply safe systems of work and take on roles within RWE safety rules up to Safety Controller level.
  4. Diagnose faults and report issues in plant and control systems.
  5. Use operational, maintenance, and safety documentation according to RWE standards.
  6. Plan, organize, and supervise maintenance activities, including contractors.
  7. Assist in outage preparation and project support.
  8. Maintain plant and documentation, and liaise with customers.
  9. Support commercial opportunities through flexible plant operation.
  10. Assist in ensuring statutory compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Experience in generating plant operation or maintenance.
  • Understanding of power/business operations and safety/legal requirements.
  • Good teamwork, communication, numeracy, and IT skills.
  • Flexible work approach, including seasonal and geographical flexibility.
  • Engineering qualification or ongoing study.
  • Health and safety certifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH.
  • Knowledge of HV apparatus operation and fault-finding.
